FAQ
We are the smallest vessel on the Saigon – Tonle Sap route: three cabins and six guests at most. Instead of selling luxury or nostalgia, we invite guests to observe the river, record it in a Water Log and take the logbook home.
Roughly mid-August to December, in the flood season, when the Tonle Sap lake is deep enough to cross. The exact last departure follows the lake's water level.
Yes. We sell by the cabin, so you may travel with one or two other parties. If you would like the yacht to yourselves, book all three cabins and the voyage becomes a private one.
At 04:30 the captain measures wind and visibility. If wind is above 15 knots or visibility is under 2 km, the crossing waits. You sleep one more night aboard and Calypso Mekong covers the cost of the waiting day. A local pilot joins the lake legs.
No. Every leg runs in daylight and the yacht anchors each evening. The yacht has no separate crew quarters, which is one reason night sailing is not possible.
Age and health guidelines are published at booking. One night is spent at anchor on the lake, more than an hour from the nearest hospital, so we ask guests to tell us about any medical conditions in advance. Satellite internet is on board.
The yacht crosses the Vĩnh Xương – Kaam Samnor river checkpoint. Guests stay aboard during formalities and the tour leader holds passports. Visa requirements depend on your nationality; we send a checklist after booking.
One language per voyage, announced with the departure. Local guides at each stop speak for themselves; our guide translates.
Cabin accommodation, meals aboard, guided shore options marked A, the Water Log and the Blank Chart. Flights, visas and travel insurance are not included. Each itinerary page lists inclusions in full.
Choose Check Availability, pick the voyage and one of the scheduled departures, and the number of guests. A 20% deposit secures your cabin, or the full price when departure is less than 90 days away; Calypso Mekong then confirms your booking in writing.
