Calypso Mekong collects your personal data to hold your cabin, complete border formalities and keep you safe on the voyage. Each group of data has one purpose, one deletion milestone and a defined list of people who can see it. Calypso Mekong does not sell your data. You can view, correct, delete, withdraw consent and complain, and Calypso Mekong replies to your request within 72 hours. This page covers what guests most need to know. The full policy is available as a PDF at the bottom of this page.

What data does Calypso Mekong collect, what for, and for how long?
Calypso Mekong collects eight groups of data in the order of your journey. The table shows the purpose, the viewers and the deletion milestone of each group.
| Data group | Used for | Who sees it | Kept until | Required or optional |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Booking and contact: name, nationality, email, phone, cabin and sailing chosen | Holding your cabin, looking after you before and after the voyage, accounting | Reservations team, payment and email providers | The voyage ends and both sides have met all obligations; accounting records stay as the law requires | Required |
| Passport: number, issue date, expiry date, image of the identity page | Border formalities | Captain, the person in charge of immigration, state authorities and border posts | Formalities are complete, then the scan and paper copy are destroyed | Required if you board |
| Health and special requirements: conditions, allergies, diet, medication | Keeping you safe aboard | Captain and the crew members responsible for safety | The voyage ends | Optional, with separate consent |
| Onboard records: option A or B each evening, the Water Log | Running the daily schedule | Captain and crew | The voyage ends, then deleted or anonymized | Option A or B required; Water Log optional, and you take it home |
| Photos and video | Calypso Mekong communications | Calypso Mekong | You withdraw consent | Optional, with separate consent |
| Preference profile: dishes, activities, cabin type; no health data | Personalizing your future voyages | Calypso Mekong | You withdraw consent | Optional (opt-in) |
| Partner data: booking details sent by an advisor or agent | Processing your booking | Same as booking and contact | Same as booking and contact | You do not enter it directly |
| Website and automatic data: cookies, IP address, access logs | Analyzing visits | Calypso Mekong | The analytics purpose ends | Automatic |
Each optional item has its own consent box, and none is ticked in advance. Declining one does not affect your voyage. The preference profile box reads: “Allow Calypso Mekong to keep your leisure preferences (excluding health data) to personalize your future voyages.”
Passport
The vessel crosses the Vinh Xuong – Kaam Samnor border post, so Calypso Mekong needs your passport before departure. You upload the file through the Encrypted Guest Portal, ideally at least 30 days before departure. For late bookings, you submit it through your Dedicated Travel Advisor, who confirms the final deadline for each booking. Your passport must stay valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Cambodia. Without a valid passport you cannot board. Please do not send your passport by ordinary email.
Health
The vessel is equipped with a full set of specialized medical equipment, the crew is trained in international maritime first aid, and a priority emergency-referral protocol links the vessel with medical facilities in the border region. So that these measures fit each guest, you can declare conditions, allergies, dietary needs and medication on the preference form, which arrives on D-14. This is sensitive data, so it needs its own consent.
Photos and video
Calypso Mekong uses your photos only if you consent, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Calypso Mekong asks permission before photographing local people, does not photograph children without an adult’s consent, and does not tag guests. No-Media mode keeps your image out of all Calypso Mekong communications. Guests who choose No-Media can also request a Private Digital Album: a digital album delivered directly to you, after which Calypso Mekong deletes the original photos from the vessel’s cameras and storage devices once the voyage ends.
Who else can see your data?
Each recipient sees only what its task needs. The captain and crew see the preference form and safety notes. Guides and the lake pilot receive the number of guests, language and activity-related notes. The partner resort and destination providers receive the number of guests, names and language, but no passport data. State authorities and border posts receive your passport. Payment, email and IT providers receive the part of the data their service needs.
The voyage enters Cambodia, so part of your data leaves Vietnam. Calypso Mekong limits what it sends to what the recipient needs, requires the recipient to protect it to an equivalent standard, and completes the procedures Vietnamese law sets for sending data abroad.
What do the other guests learn about you?
The vessel has three cabins and sells by the cabin, so you travel with one or two other groups of guests. They know your name and language. Each evening, the captain or crew speaks privately with each cabin about the next day’s schedule and records that cabin’s option A or B in the Book of Days (the Private Butler Briefing). Other guests do not learn your choice, your passport number, your health information or your personal contact details unless you share them.
What rights do you have?
You have six groups of rights: to be informed about what data is processed; to consent, refuse and withdraw consent; to view and request correction; to request a copy, deletion or restriction; to complain, sue and seek compensation; and to request protective measures. Data held under a legal duty, such as accounting and tax records, stays until the legal period ends, and Calypso Mekong does not edit accounting documents already issued.
You use every right through one procedure:
- Send your request to info@saigonyacht.com, naming the right you want to use and your booking reference.
- Confirm your identity from the email address you used to book.
- Receive a reply within 72 hours of a valid request. If Calypso Mekong refuses all or part of it, it states the reason in writing.
- Escalate to the competent state authority for personal data protection if you are not satisfied.
You withdraw consent through the unsubscribe link in any email, by writing to the same mailbox, or by telling the captain or guide during the voyage. Doing so does not affect a voyage already booked. Calypso Mekong removes photos from channels it controls, but printed material cannot be recalled. Guests in the EU, the UK or California may have extra rights under the law where they live and can send requests to the same mailbox.
How does Calypso Mekong protect your data?
No system gives absolute security. Calypso Mekong keeps paper passports and the guest list in a locked place, keeps the Book of Days aboard, grants access by role, receives passports through the Encrypted Guest Portal, encrypts connections while data is in transit, and binds staff and data processors with confidentiality commitments. An email sent to the wrong address cannot be recalled, however well the system encrypts.
If personal data is accessed, disclosed, lost or altered without authorization, Calypso Mekong notifies the competent state authority within 72 hours of discovery. If your data is affected, it also notifies you within 72 hours. The notice states which data was exposed, the likely consequences, what you should do and who to contact.
Children and cookies
Children travel with an adult in their cabin. A parent or guardian provides the child’s data, declares the child’s health information and consents on the child’s behalf to every optional purpose. Calypso Mekong does not process biometric data and does not track guests’ location.
The website uses essential cookies, functional cookies that remember your display language, and Google Analytics to count visits. Calypso Mekong does not use advertising cookies. Functional and analytics cookies need your consent, and you can select or clear them on the consent bar in the footer or in your browser settings. The website does not yet respond to the Do Not Track signal.

Complain to Calypso Mekong first. If the matter is not resolved, send your complaint to the competent state authority for personal data protection. Calypso Mekong reviews this policy at least every 12 months and whenever the law changes. When a change alters a purpose, a retention milestone or a recipient, it emails guests with a booking before the change takes effect. Report a suspected breach through Contact Calypso Mekong.
